The Festival of Lights

is over but not forgotten. We had a wonderful Chanukah and hope that you did too. I loved lighting the candles, watching them burn quietly. I loved watching Isabella’s face as she opened her gifts each night. I swear she was just as happy with the giant chocolate dreidel as she was with the ipod nano. Its good to have a thoughtful and spoiled-but-not-rotten child. She makes me proud to be her mama.

Layout credits: 8 Crazy Nights (my latest kit), Urbanized Templates V2 by Ami Collofello, and Used and Abused Alpha 7 by Amanda Carlson. Everything is available at Pixel Gypsy Designs and you can grab it easy by clicking on the layout. You’ll head right to the gallery and can grab all three products as a gallery bundle at a discount!

We are just starting our winter break and will be heading out of town in a few days to visit friends and family. I’m looking forward to the trip!

Pretty Placecards

on awesome cardstock. Check them out over HERE on the Scrap N’Art blog. I had a wonderful time making these for a friend’s bat mitzvah. Mazel Tov Abby, see you tomorrow!

Bimuelos

Sephardic (aka sort of Spanish/Middle Eastern/not Eastern European) Jewish tradition. My first try. They were saltier than expected, but that’s probably why they tasted so good with the honey syrup on top!

Still to do…

Don’t mind me. Just making a list and checking it twice.

  1. Three more nights of Chanukah, the last night being Shabbat, so we will have Family Night, perhaps with some Wii.
  2. Prep the awards for the Girl Scout meeting tomorrow night. Make sure Isabella is ready for her speaking part in the ceremony. – Done.
  3. Wrap Scott’s gifts for his team at the office.
  4. Wrap Isabella’s presents for her teacher at school, the one who isn’t Jewish so hasn’t gotten a gift yet.
  5. Make latkes tonight for Scott to take to work. Again.
  6. Stop eating said latkes so that at least some of my clothes still fit.
  7. Deliver the placecards for Abby’s bat mitzvah.
  8. Make Abby’s bat mitzvah card. – Done.
  9. Last Girl Scout troop meeting before winter break. Court of Awards. Special night for the girls.
  10. Attend Abby’s bat mitzvah. Mazel tov!
  11. Buy gifts for my parents and their spouses.
  12. Mail gifts to my Dad and to my stepsister’s almost-here baby.
  13. Pack for San Diego and LA. Don’t forget the tiny, but well considered thank you gifts for our various hosts.
  14. Decide what to read on the plane.
  15. Renew Isabella’s library book before our trip.
  16. Have Christmas at my mom’s house.
  17. Get the hell out of dodge!

Okay. The really scary thing is items 2-8 should all happen tonight if I’m going to get all this done! I need to go. NOW. Particularly since I am certain there is something missing from this list.
