6 Changes.

During my blog reading tonight, I found a website called 6changes.com. The idea is that you choose 6 things to change in your life. You commit to each one for two months, 8 weeks, which is time to make it a habit. Then, and only then, do you move on to the next change. The site is interesting because he talks about breaking down the change into manageable steps, ie. you don't leap in on day one. You take a step toward the change. So I'm thinking about things I would like to change and here's where I'm headed.

1. Exercise more. Oh, who am I kidding? Exercise. Period.

2. Take better care of my skin.

3. Clean my own house. I know, you think I'm spoiled, but seriously? I'm ready to go back. I think.

4. Cook more meals at home.

5. Write in a journal on a regular basis.

6. Stop buying books. Not stop reading, just stop buying. Go to the library more often instead. You know, free?

So the key to this, apparently, is to choose one and start with baby steps. I don't know if my husband is going to fully grasp how small a baby step is going to be so as much as the site says not to, I'm afraid that might get skipped for the exercise change, which is the first change. We've agreed to start walking. Wish me luck.

A So Cal Holiday Part 3

After having a great time in LA with Jeff and Craig, we headed back to San Diego. Greg has two nieces and Lauren is 2. Isabella was "the big sister" on Sunday morning and she had so much fun. I cannot tell you how many times I heard "Mom, she's just so adorable!". Granted, Lauren IS adorable and she was ADORING Isabella, so it was a match made in heaven.

After hanging out at the farmer's market and getting some lunch, Lauren headed off for a nap and we took a little vacation break to see Avatar. We all three loved it. Isabella thought the flying multicolored bird/dragon creatures were amazing and so did I. The movie was just really beautiful and we had a nice relaxing break by ourselves. Then we headed off to a pizza party with Greg's family. Had to meet the other niece, Lyla. What a sweetie.

And seriously, there were other adults there but honestly, don't recall. I just ooh'ed and aah'ed over this little one, caught her cold, and ignored everyone else. Oh, the pizza was really good though. Great call Johnson family. Okay Jim, if you ever read this, I know you and Melanie and the kids are not Johnson's but I have no clue what to call you so there.

Thank you Greg for allowing us to hang out with you, your family and in your wonderful home. I/we love you.

And last but not least, before we headed home, we had a wonderful brunch and afternoon catching up with our friend Lori. Lori could be the sister I never had. I take that back. I love her too much for her to be related. And that will make sense to her when she reads it!

And now its almost 2010. I can't believe it. Onward everyone!

A So Cal Holiday Part 2

So after Disneyland, we drove to Scott's brother's house in Los Angeles. Jeff and Craig live in a beautiful, updated home in I have no idea what the area is called an area near Hollywood. Tall cove ceilings, a wide front door (who knew how much I would love a wide front door, I kept staring at it while sitting in the living room, why are doors skinny now and people wider?), hardwood floors (some original, I think), a completely redone custom kitchen (does Jeff even cook?), and oh its just really great. Jeff did a great job with the remodel when he bought it. Anyhoo, we had a great day hanging out with the guys and Isabella loved getting to visit with her uncle as it has been WAY too long since we've seen him.

I think the El Capital Theatre was supposed to be the big draw of the day but honestly, Bella has not stopped talking about Yogurtland. If we had one of these here, she would be thrilled. Its a self-serve yogurt concept. You grab a cup, choose whatever flavor and quantity of yogurt you want, add your own toppings, and then pay by the weight. So very cool and fun. I must say, she is still quite easy to please!

A So Cal Holiday

We did something different this year. We went to Southern California to visit friends and family instead of staying home. It was wonderful. We had such a wonderful visit with everyone there and all of our hosts were so incredibly kind and generous!

We spent the first day with our friend Greg. Greg is awesome and he gave us full run of his wonderful bungalow. We stayed pretty much on Houston time the entire trip so Isabella and I were up early and wandering the streets for hot chocolate and coffee (respectively). His neighborhood is wonderful and we had such a great visit! We headed off to Sea World and had a great day despite our urge to sport a Free Willy T-shirt.

We spent the evening at a Christmas Eve party hosted by some of Greg's friends and it was a lovely time. Isabella was POOPED pretty early so we had to cut the evening short.

We got up bright and early the next day and headed to Anaheim. Disneyland was on the agenda for Christmas Day.
