Sicker than a dog

Huh. Where did that phrase come from? How sick do dogs really get? I've never had a sick dog. Or cat. But I am sick. My nose is stuff and my throat hurts and the Day-Quil is not working. Oddly, this makes me want to play in my craft room. I have lots of things I NEED to do this evening - like, um, feed my family. But I can't focus on that. Instead I made this.

This is a purely digital layout, printed on textured cardstock and stuck to the front of a hardcover journal. I started the journal awhile back but it was just plain black and boring on the outside. It's still boring on the inside too but that's another story. I will fill this journal with projects that I may or may not share with you, but that will make me happy. Someday my children will find it and either cherish it or think I'm dumb as a rock. Another interesting saying, although that one I pretty much get.

I'm on Facebook. Weird. I don't get it yet. I mean, I found a bunch of the crafty people that I blog-stalk so now I can facebook-stalk them also. I found my brother who I talk to every day because we work together and live in the same neighborhood, and one of his kids. I found my cousin and some other friends. But I don't really get it. I like blogging better I think. So far anyway.

Okay, here's a layout I did yesterday.

This was for a challenge over on Color Combos Galore. I finished this in about 30 minutes thanks to the template from JZ Designs. Seriously, once you know what you're doing in Photoshop, templates make the design part so simple. Love that I can complete a scrapbook page in under an hour start to finish.

Alrighty, I'm off to make sure my family doesn't starve. Maybe they will take me out for chicken soup. I really do feel like cr*p.

New York, New York

Sigh. And another sigh. I should be packing for New York. I should be putting all of our long johns and boots and sweaters ina suitcase. But I'm not. And its okay. My wonderful hubby can't leave work because its year end and someone AGES ago decided not to update and upgrade a system that is now so ancient, it is on its last legs and is broken and dying during the busiest time of the year. That poor system needs a whole team of babysitters of which my hubby is the lead babysitter. He is SO VERY UPSET that we are not going and he feels responsible. He says he feels like the Grinch. Well we're JEWISH baby so its okay. Seriously, he is such a fabulous husband and he is feeling SO guilty. Well I have a little surprise for him for Christmas Eve... okay, not that kind of surprise you gutter babies... well maybe but that's not what I meant.

So, I won't be away from the blog and I won't be away from my craft room. I also won't be using the cute little Chanukah in NY album I created for the trip, LOL, just realized that. But IT IS ALL OK. THE WORLD IS STILL SPINNING ON ITS AXIS. And it is still Chanukah with lots of chocolate and dreidels and stories about peace and freedom for all. I like that.

More Stuff

I've been busy. Last week was a whirlwind and on Thursday, I sprained my ankle so bad I ended up in the emergency room. Stupid stupid. Anyway, they put a big boot on my foot, yes, I got photos, and had to stumble around with that for a couple of days. Saturday we had a Girl Scout event, yes, I got photos, and my mom had a party (no, no photos of that). Today, Isabella had religious school and then I finally had some time to play. I almost finished my neice's Christmas present, can't wait for her to see it on Friday night, I'm pretty sure she is going to love it. And I worked on these. Good night all.
These photos make me smile. These are from our trip to Big Bend last April for Spring Break. I was just amazed at all the colors in the desert. It was truly incredible.
This was my grandparents' weekend home. When I was little, I would spend a week there in the summer and lots of weekends. We used to have a lot of fun in the treehouse and on walks. My grandfather built this home and it was my grandmother's magical place.

More Layouts

I've been having so much fun with digital layouts. I love paper and glue and ink, but for 12x12 layouts, I just love the versatility and SPEED that I can create something great.

This first one is made from a kit called Luv You from Helene Douchet. It's for sale here. She let me make a layout before it was on the market - thank you Helene! I LOVE this kit with so many cool embellishment.

I also won a freebie from The Mathmetician's Assistant. Its her CU Overlays #4 and yes, that means there is a #1, 2 and 3 too! They are great for adding dimension to your papers! I used lots of other goodies on this page as I am trying out a new "style". I don't think I am meant to be "shabby chic" but its fun throwing everything together.

Little Dragon Designs

Whoo hoo! I'm so excited! I was chosen to be on the Little Dragon Designs CT. Little Dragon Designs creates awesome kits and individual items for digital scrapbooking. I've had SO much fun this past week making layouts like this:

And this, which uses paper and embellishments from Little Dragon and combines them with others.
And even this birthday card, which I made using all Little Drago kit products and then printed on a card through my printer. Ready to mail, hope she likes it!

I'm so happy to be on the team (see my new blinkie over there on the right?). Cool huh?
