Tags and Other Fun Stuff

Okay first, a layout. These photos were taken by my neice on her camera phone, after she used a flat iron on her brother. He let her take the photos and then he washed his hair again to be sure it would be curly for school the next day. Can’t have the friends know that he had a flat iron on his head. Willingly. But the photos could not be tossed. Had to use them.

And I have been playing with distress ink, distress stickles, and acrylic paint all day and made these tags, following Tim Holtz’ 12 Days of Christmas from last year. He’s going to start this year’s on Monday so I’m looking forward to it. Having fun, hope you are too!

The Photo Shoot

I am not a photographer. I do my best and every once in awhile I get lucky. I don’t think this was one of those times. But the kids had fun and we do have some cute shots so it will work for its purpose. My mom tries to get her grandkids (one from me and three from my brother) to pose for photos. We went once to a shop in the mall. Two years ago I took some pretty nice ones. Last year the kids were able to skip it. This year I took them again. This is what we ended up with. I think a couple of them will be nice enough for my mom to casually frame in the house. No matter what, I got a great layout for my scrapbook and had a lot of fun.

Goodies from my Grandma

You know, not everyone my age is lucky enough to have grandparents still in their lives. My daughter (and her cousins) have great-grandparents, which is a beautiful thing. Not only are my grandparents wonderfully kind and generous people, they still love EACH OTHER, which is just an incredible thing we can all only hope to achieve. Anyway, we drank lots of coffee, talked, and then my grandma remembered that I wanted to see her old buttons. She pulled out a tin full, then another one, and then a box of stuff, then reached into her curio cabinet, then came back with a whole drawer from a dresser! I was in heaven. I got lace, I got buttons, I got old letters, I got a couple of weird coins, and I got all the stuff you see here. Very cool. And the prices were good. Like I said, generous. Please note that the gas receipt is from Nov 20, 1964 – wow! exactly 44 years ago, right? My grandpa bought 12.2 gallons for $4.00. Seriously, that’s less than 33 cents a gallon. Wow. Cannot. Even. Comprehend. The little bank book hiding under the gas card is from my great grandmother and has a list of deposits inside from 1940 and 1941. And I have a love letter dated Feb 1, 1923 from a relative to his future bride, who eventually became my grandmother’s mother. So incredibly cool. And there’s more, so much more. Thanks Grandma, I can’t wait to play with this stuff.

AND, I put a link to my blog on her internet browser so I’m hoping she will stop by and check out my posts. Maybe she will even leave a comment. She is a VERY up-to-date and wise 82 years!! Love you so much Grandma.

AllThingsTim

I made this tag for a SWAP on the AllThingsTim Yahoo! Group. One of every person’s tags will be sent to Tim Holtz to choose his 3 favorites for prizes. The competition will be fierce, we have lots of really talented people in the group. I just hope whoever gets the other 5 likes them.
This was fun to make: distress inks, a mask, stamps, cutting out grungeboard by hand, cutting out grungeboard with my Cricut, perfect pearls, embossing powder, a trip to the hardware store, fragments, and a vintage key recently found. Happy happy happy.
Have a lovely day everyone. The week is passing quickly, do something that makes YOU happy today.

Its almost Monday

I had a really nice weekend. My classes on Saturday were really fun and relaxing. Janet Hopkins is a very laid-back, easy going teacher, loved that. I didn’t want to do a Christmas theme for my junk binder so I had brought a bunch of different papers, she loved it and kept wandering over to admire my Sassafras papers and turquoise and orange theme. I was happy. The techniques class in the afternoon was fun too, although I had tried most of the techniques already since I am a Tim blog stalker.

This is not a tag from class. This is a tag I made this evening that I am sending as a thank you to someone who did a really nice thing lately for me, and a BUNCH of other ladies. I’m also throwing in some other little goodies and mailing it out tomorrow. I did, however, use some of the techniques from class, as well as some other items in my stash.

So happy week everyone, take care.
