Stories in Hand
Hi all,
I registered for Jessica Sprague's FREE upcoming class and quite frankly, you should too. She is a wonderful instructor and we are going to create a system for capturing stories we won't want to forget. Whether you are a scrapbooker or not, we ALL have stories to tell. So go sign up. And, if you are a local friend following my blog and you are interested in creating this sytem together, I am offering up my dining room table (Scott doesn't know yet but he won't care) on Sunday, Nov 9th, from 2-5 pm. We can sit and talk, put together the binders, etc. You really should register for the class so you can get the emails yourself but you don't have to... I can let Jessica know I have a few friends following along... Email me if you would like to do this. We can talk about supplies needed and snacks. Must have snacks to be creative. Fun!
Welcome to the World William!
Week in the Life and Ali’s Blog
Ali Edwards posted photos of my Week in the Life project on her blog. I feel so special. Yes, she posted every photo that was sent to her for the past week. Yes, I am one of hundreds. But I still feel special. And I got a note from her that I am putting inside the last little envelope in the book. Yay!!!
Photos of my entire album are in a Picasa Web Album, the link is in the right column over there. I had so many nice comments today, that makes me happy.
More info about my album...
I used my Bind-It-All and I used Zutter covers made for the Bind-It-All. It is 7.5"Wx5"H. I covered the front and back exterior with some nice flocked paper, then embellished the heck out of the front. On the inside, the pages are two page layouts, one side with an enlarged photo, the other with journaling. And in between each is a little file folder I cut with my Cricut. The envelopes hold receipts, thoughts, and little notes, including the nice email I got from Ali about my album!
Have a fabulous day. I'm really swamped this week planning a Girl Scout troop camping trip with my fantastic co-leaders and mom helpers. We're going to have a blast I know!
Stories in Hand
Okay, so for all my scrapbook AND especially NON-scrapbooking friends who follow my blog (you know who you are and so do I), there is a FREE class coming up at Jessica Sprague. She says you don't have to own Photoshop, you don't have to have previous scrapbooking experience, you just have to have stories to tell, which basically applies to every person on this planet. Registration starts 10/20 and the class will have videos for a week. It should be great, Jessica is wonderful and inspirational.
So, I challenge everyone who reads this blog to go sign up and try the class with me.
Have a beautifully inspired day.
Lightbulbs
While working on my Week in the Life project, following Ali Edwards blog, I was checking all my mail for interesting photos, colors, etc. We are members at the Natural Science Museum and they had articles on Theodore Roosevelt and Thomas Edison this month in their magazine. I tore the photos out, not sure what I would do with them. In the meantime, I have been taking a backgrounds painting class with Paulette Insall, and I have been cleaning out my old scrapbook supplies. I ended up with this mixed media painting. I was planning on letting Scott hang it in his man room but I think it turned out too pink, although he did say he likes it.

I started by creating the background with a bunch of techniques from Paulette's class. I then added the cutout photo from the magazine, a Tim Holtz journaling ticket, and the four letters punched out with a circle punch. I put a wash over the whole thing. Then I stamped the quote but you couldn't see it so I wasn't sure what to do about that. I drew the lightbulb with charcoal pencil and then painted it with acrylics. After putting the white-ish color on the bulb, it was too stark so I rubbed some of it off before it dried. Then I really couldn't see the stamped quote so I decided to free hand paint over the letters. It is much more messy but I like it. Maybe I could have stamped the words with an off white staz-on ink but I don't have any so I just went for it. I also painted over Mr Edison's name and the IDEA paper to make them stand out more. Its hard to write with a paintbrush, need to explore brushes at the art supply!
Have a happy and creative day, I am off to get a bagel and coffee with my mom and then work!
