Heart Songs

I finished up this painting tonight. This was a background I created during an online class with Paulette Insall. Lots of different techniques with acrylic paints and fluid acrylic washes. Really fun stuff. It took me a little while to decide on a focal point but I have been playing around with my grungeboard and crackle paint and distress inks and I think I like this. And it was appropriate today.

I am happy that my dad had a really good day yesterday.

I am happy that we made a little more progress in our adoption today.

I am happy that it is almost Saturday.

I am happy the weather is beautiful right now, which is pretty rare to be quite frank.

I am singing my heart songs today and smiling.

Featured Artist on Empty Easel

No, not me. My dad. Who is much more deserving of course. I'm so happy for him. Go check out the article and the website. Very cool.

Grateful

I am grateful for many things, not the least of which is the time my husband and daughter give me, or rather let me keep, to play in my craft and art room. I love them so much, I can't even explain. Since we're coming up on Thanksgiving, I made this mixed media painting and it will be paired with a Gratitude book that will be passed around at Thanksgiving. My hope is that everyone will add a gratitude and we can bring the book back next year, reflect again, and add another year's gratitude. A new tradition. Or so I'm hoping. Here is the painting and I will post the book next week when I get it finished up and ready.

Don’t Walk. Run.

Another mixed media painting. I took the photo of the door in Costa Rica a few years ago and everytime I run across it in my photos, I smile. I like this door. And I did go through it. And then there was shopping, ha. Figures. But if you forget the shopping part and you just imagine what COULD be behind the door... good or bad, happy or sad, its OK. You should go through it. You can do it. You can face it. With someone or alone. It. will. be. OK.

Have a happy rest of your Sunday. I'm working on a Thanksgiving project right now, will post it later tonight if it dries before bedtime.

Girl Scout Camping Weekend

I think this rocks. This is a centerpiece made by our troop girls. Every meal, there are centerpieces on the tables, prepared by the patrol of girls who have been assigned as hostesses for the meal. The creativity is always amazing and occasionally, like this one, the entire display is beautiful.

Thanks you Troop 3703 for being the best darn 3rd grade Girl Scout troop I could ever lead!
