Work your mojo

whatever your brand of wishing for good luck might be, please work some for me. prayer, crossed fingers or toes, chanting, lighting incense, I’ll take it all. We took one small step forward on our domestic adoption today. I mean really small. Like less than a baby step. But it felt like a giant leap forward so I need all the help I can get turning this into THE big one. Thanks all.

Schlitterbahn

So… I was born here in Texas and lived here most of my life except for a fabulous 10 years in San Francisco and a short stint in Atlanta. However, I am NOT one of those Texans who swear that Texas is the only place to be. Not by a long shot. Don’t get me wrong. I’m happy to be here for now, the economy is doing better than other places, I have a fantastic job with my mom, a beautiful home, and a good school for my daughter. But I miss mountains and hills and water and cooler weather, and liberal people. Among other things. HOWEVER, I can honestly say that Texas has the BEST waterparks in the country. Well, ok, I haven’t exactly visited the others, but seriously, Schlitterbahn New Braunfels and now Schlitterbahn Galveston are truly fantastic waterparks. We took our nephew Varren and three of his friends, along with Isabella of course, to Schlitterbahn Galveston yesterday. We had a great day and I must say, if all teenagers were as polite and well-behaved as these kids, none of us would be complaining about teenagers. These guys were amazing. Varren is a great kid and I knew his friends would be too, but they were much greater than I imagined.

Just what I need….

another hobby. I went to a beginner sewing class last night and was happily surprised that I am not a beginner. I cannot sew a straight line but I have used my sewing machine in the past and with a little thought and a Diet Coke, I was able to remember how to prepare a bobbin and thread the machine. That in itself is no small feat, if you are a beginner. But I was feeling like a pro. I am happy to report that I made this.

I like it a lot and I was so happy that the new sewing shop carries Amy Butler and Heather Bailey. The orange fabric on my cuff is Heather Bailey. The floral was from the same line but was not Heather’s I don’t think. I cut off the selvage and stupidly threw it away at the store. Selvage. You like that? Told you I was a pro.
Have a fabulous day everyone. I know I will.
