Create Every Day and Get the Hell Out of Dodge

So I finished the box today. I like it. Its funky and cute and the perfect size for, oh good grief, makeup for my 8 yr old. Okay before anyone starts flaming me, she’s talking cherry chapstick and the palest of pale pink blush. And yes, I have taught her to wash it off before bed. And yes, it is only for special occasions. And yes, she is a very girlie girl so I’m not going to apologize. She loves clothes, shoes, makeup, dolls, figure skating, and wrapping her dad around her little finger. And there you have it.

And tomorrow morning we’re leaving for San Francisco for a long weekend. Yay! I have not been back since we moved almost four years ago. I miss it. I miss our friends, I miss the food, I miss the city. Ah, the city. Crowded streets and honking horns. And hills and fog and beautiful buildings. Its so completely different than here. I love San Francisco. So I made a mini album to document our trip. The inside is not done yet, but here’s the outside. I got this album from a vendor at CKC Houston in January, knowing we were taking this trip. The flower is a leather flower from Hobby Lobby and the rest of the embellishments are mixed items from my stash. The tabs were made from Scenic Route Worn Lined paper, love that paper, I think I could use it on just about every project I make from now on. I don’t think I would get sick of it either. So simple and clean and useful.

Gotta go pack. No, I have not done that yet. I was too busy making stuff. You know, priorities. Who cares if we have clean underwear in our suitcases as long as we have a fabulous box and an even more fabulous mini-album?

June 18 – Create a Rock Star Box

“Mom, can you make me a little box to take to Greene camp?”

“Sure honey, what do you want to put in it?”

“Well, JUST for Shabbat, because Shabbat is special, I was hoping to take some lip gloss and a little bit of blush to wear, like the older girls.”

“You promise only to wear a little bit?”

“Oh I promise Mommy. I know its only for special.”

“Okay, what do you want the box to look like?”

“Anything cool and rock star please.”

Do you think this is rock star enough? For an EIGHT YEAR OLD????? Holy cow.

So I scraplifted this from Tim Holtz‘ February Technique Challenge. This was fun, I happened to have some wire hanging around so I could even do the wire stitching. Loved that part and will have to try it again on something else. Love love love the grungeboard. This stuff is so fun.

I’ll finish the box tomorrow night and post it before we head out of town for the weekend for her birthday.

June 17 – Create

This is a digi layout from a fantastic template I found here. She has loads more of them and they are very cool.

I used paper from LivEdesigns. I am happy with this layout because it includes photos of some of my recent projects. This is what I do now. Okay, I have a job. And I take care of my husband and daughter. But I love creating. I am addicted. I do collect supplies, I admit, but I love USING them. Still love real paper along with the digital but the digital is so FAST, and so less messy.

Having a blast. Now I have to go figure out what my child will eat for dinner. Does popcorn count as a vegetable? With a protein bar on the side? Only half kidding folks.

June 16: Creativity Every Day

So… yeah… umm… its my birthday. And I’m fine with it dammit. Even went to the gym. In all seriousness, I am SO much happier today than 15 years ago, or 20, or whenever that age is I’m supposed to yearn for. I yearn for NOW. Its all good. So here is a digital layout I just did for my new online digital class with Jessica Sprague. Loving these classes. Getting my skills so I can make a custom Shutterfly book. So happy.

And now I am heading out to dinner with my mom and Isabella. Because of course, Scott is in Vegas at some fancy restaurant with HP and then going to a Fallout Boy concert. Seriously? Scott? Fallout Boy? That is SO my scene and not his. Sometimes life is just not fair. But dinner will be lovely and I am glad I am home so I can play with paper and scrapbook all week while he is gone. Staying up WAY too late… oh well. Happy birthday to me!!

Happy Father’s Day

So I didn’t do much creating since it was Father’s Day, although Scott got on a plane in the afternoon for Vegas. A conference with HP. Uh huh. Whatever. Just don’t blow all our savings on the slots… I keep telling you they are rigged man.
